Once again I’m delighted to see the interest in the introduction of the Anglican Rosary and how this interest has brought people to our webiste on the Anglican Rosary. It is good to be able to support people in this way.
In an email the author spoke about how he and his wife had been visiting a service at a Catholic Church and saw a person praying the Rosary. Like many, he recognised the value of this kind of prayer and wondered why it was not practiced in the Anglican Church. He of course soon learnt that there is an growing increase in the use of prayer beads or Rosaries in the Anglican Church. He is keen to introduce this form of prayer to his local parish and wanted support to do this.
Of course, it is always helpful to have someone come and do this who has experience. However, sometimes distance and cost are not conducive to such a desire. In which case I feel I can atleast offer support by providing some resources and email support to people like this fellow. It is good to see how our global villiage can be just that little bit smaller in collaberating on projects like this.

Tiger Eye Key Ring Chaplet
Now you will never be without your prayer beads
I’ve been making several Rosaries today. Some for folks who have purchased them and others because I wanted to share the gift of prayer with someone.
Whilst I was making the last of the sets I had to do for today I was looking for my key ring, only to find part of the key ring had broken off.
I looked around for the broken part, amidst a bed full of beads and other bits n bobs and I thought - why not. So I got out some left over tiger tail, a split ring and a lobster clamp and got a little creative; it happens now and then. Read the rest of this entry »

The Anglican Rosary

The Anglican Rosary
The Anglican Rosary is made up of a Cross and a total of 33 beads; 1 Invitatory Bead, 4 Cruciform Beads and 4 groups of 7 Week Beads.
The design is rich in symbolism reminding the user of key tenets of Christian faith and tradition.
The total number of beads is 33, the number of years of Christ’s life on earth, reminding us that Christ is the source of our faith.
The Cross recalls the saving grace of God; that God acts in our lives to bring us into the Kingdom of God.
The Invitatory bead calls us to prayer; to pray without ceasing. leading into the main prayer string, where we are offer prayers of praise and thanksgiving to God. Read the rest of this entry »

I’ve used a very simple but powerful WP plug-in WP e-Commerce to set up a basic shopping cart. It only has a few items in there are the moment, and thus far is only set up to take $AUD cheques. When I have a little more time I’ll work on getting a few more things on there and set it up to receive payments via paypal. But at least this might be of some help to folk who send emails requesting where they can buy our Rosaries from.
I also want to keep this cart simple as I don’t want it to detract from the main purpose of this site; to honour the stories and prayers of those who make and use Anglican Prayer Beads.

I’m not sure about you, but quite often when my mind is working at 100 km/h I find it hard to put the brakes on and get to sleep. I have a very overactive mind and it is always willing to find new things to do and think about; most often from about 11pm at night onwards. I find that one thing that can often help is if I lie in bed reciting prayer on my Rosary. If I catch my mind wondering I just gently bring myself back the prayers I was saying. The following prayer is another example of how material from a prayer book, combined with the willingness to let the Holy Spirit work within us to express our needs. A prayer for forgiveness offers a connection with the traditional prayer of confession with the composer’s own sense of our need to be reminded to come to God in prayers of confession and reconciliation. The rythym of prayer with the Anglican Rosary is also well suited for use as a group meditation. The following is a suggested format for using the Rosary in a group meditaion. The format can be adapted to suite any group. I was impressed to learn that a few years after I conducted a workshop in one place that they still held a regular group meditation before Mass on Sundays. Read the rest of this entry »
